As UAH Esports continues to grow we are looking at upgrading our Esports room to better accommodate that growth.  This semester we are removing our long running Counter-Strike 2 division but are expanding by adding the new fast paced, destruction heavy, objective based shooter, The Finals.  In addition to that, we are also adding a Splatoon 3 division, and reintroducing a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate division.  Having over 25 teams across all of the divisions we have it would only make sense that we update our current practice facility which should also allow for continued growth.

As it currently stands we only have about a dozen computers in the room and it could use a little bit of a face lift.  The first goal would be to up that number from 12 to closer to 30 so that there are plenty of computers for people to jump on and practice/play.  There will be an area for casual gamers to come play as well so you don’t need to be part of one of the esports teams to benefit from this upgrade.

In addition to having a casual area, there will also be practice rooms for some of the teams to get some reps in with a little peace and quiet from the outside world.  There are also plans for a spectator zone for fans to come and support the efforts of their favorite esports team.  With all of the additions to the new room, we will look at holding a lot more events in the room for both UAH, and for other collegiate esports programs to attend.

Other quality of life improvements will be made in the mood lighting, overall decor inside and outside, updating room logistics, and a small kitchen area to be able to make some quick food for longer sessions.  The kitchenette area will be a place for some Red Bull fridges so that we can continue with our Red Bull Campus Partnership.  This is all provided that we can secure the funding required for the improvements.

This process will take some time and will involve a lot of coordination from multiple departments at UAH.  UAH Esports is committed to making this rendering a reality and to provide a better practice environment for our players.  We look forward to sharing more updates in regards to the practice room as updates happen.
